    • Born 25 Oct.1843 Elbert County, Ga.
      Died 26 Feb. 1923 Oglethorpe County, Ga. Son of James Alexander Hansford and Phoebe Hardy of Oglethorpe County. Benjamin enlisted with the CSA as a Private on 10 January 1864 in Charleston, South Carolina. He served with Company K, 6th Georgia Infantry ("Gilmer Blues"). He was paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina on 1 May 1865. Benjamin and his wife Lucy Ann Bray are buried in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. His military record is on file with the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
